Membership

Membership is mandatory for all guests staying at the Churchill Northern Studies Centre. Dues are renewed on an annual basis and are waived for stays of two days or less.

Room & Board

All bedding and towels are provided, but personal toiletries are not. The prices below include three meals daily - typically lunch and dinner on the arrival day and breakfast on the departure day – and complimentary pick-up and drop-off at the airport or train station.

Researchers

Up to and including 14 nights $73.5/night
15 nights or more $60/night

Non-Researchers

Regular $95/night

Conferences and Meetings

Regular shared accommodation $130/night
Single supplement 1 + $90/night

1 All accommodation at the Centre is shared with a maximum of four people assigned per room in two bunk beds. For select conferences and meetings, single supplements MAY be available with prior arrangement and at the discretion of the Management.

School and Youth Groups

Youth and Adult Chaperones $75/night 2

University Credit Course Packages

Up to and including 7 nights $420/student
Up to and including 14 nights $770/student

To receive the university credit course package rate, the course must have a minimum of five students enrolled. These rates include room and board, annual membership fee, airport (or train) pick-up and drop-off, and vehicle support appropriate to the group size (excluding fuel and driver). In addition, the primary course instructor stays for free. Laboratory space will be made available where possible to support teaching. Stays of less than 7 days or more than 14 days may be prorated based on package price and at the discretion of the Management.

Exploratory Rate $30/night3

3 Maximum of three nights in total - regular rate will apply thereafter. This rate applies to first-time researchers, educators, and professors examining the facilities in order to conduct research, educational programs or offer courses for credit. It does not include additional researchers or students - regular rates will apply to these individuals.

Note: Wherever possible, the CNSC will endeavour to provide secure storage facilities, staff assistance and logistical support to meet the needs of all research being conducted at the facility.

Educational Programming

The Churchill Northern Studies Centre is pleased to invite all our visitors to tour the Weston Family Welcome Centre, at no charge, to learn more about the Centre and the Hudson Bay Lowlands Ecosystem. For those who would like a guided "behind the scenes" tour of our new facility, please call ahead to make a booking.

Guided Facility Tours

The CNSC provides a wide variety of educational programming to the general public. Please consult our website for more information on upcoming programming. Custom presentations by CNSC staff on a variety of topics are available by prior arrangement. Each lecture is typically one hour in duration, including a 15 minute question/answer session and complimentary beverages and snacks.

Fees for meeting space may be waived if the majority of participants are staying at the CNSC or at the discretion of the Management. Community groups wishing to utilize meeting space at the CNSC are encouraged to contact the Executive Director about reduced rates.
