OVER 30 YEARS OF RESEARCH EXCELLENCE

Sound northern research provides the underpinnings for Northern education. It allows for the advancement of knowledge and provides a basis for separating conjecture from fact in a region which is under-represented from a research standpoint. Research objectives of the CNSC are to facilitate, promote, enhance and undertake investigations of Northern issues.

Each year, the CNSC provides accommodation and logistic support to almost two dozen research projects focusing on a diversity of subjects in the physical, biological, and social sciences.

We provide scientists and educators with the venue and the tools to carry out their research. In addition to accommodation and meals at our permanent research facility, we offer vehicle and equipment rentals (trucks, boats, off-road vehicles, skidoos), access to reference collections (herbarium, bird study skins, reprint library), and basic laboratory equipment (scales, drying ovens, stereo-microscopes).

We have a large double bay garage containing basic mechanical and woodworking tools and two helicopter landing pads. Each year we generally hire 1 or 2 research technicians which, for a nominal fee, can be hired to provide casual assistance or bear guard services to field researchers. We also work closely with local businesses to provide other services as required.
