The purpose of ACUNS is the advancement of northern scholarship through education and research. Canadian Polar CommissionEstablished in 1991 as the lead federal agency in the area of polar research. Responsible for disseminating knowledge of the polar regions and contributing to public awareness of the importance of polar science to Canada. Works closely with other governmental and non-governmental agencies to promote and support Canadian study of the polar regions. Provides a message forum and bulletin board related to northern issues, conferences, job postings, and grant information. Centre for Forest Interdisciplinary ResearchThe Centre for Forest Interdisciplinary Research (C-FIR) at the University of Winnipeg will be gathering place for forest ecology researchers from around the world. On a national level, the University of Winnipeg will now offer the wider range of forestry relevant programming within Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Earthwatch InstituteThe mission of the Earthwatch Institute is to promote sustainable conservation of our natural resources and cultural heritage by creating partnerships between scientists, educators and the general public. The CNSC participates in this program through our Climate Change at Arctic's Edge program and be providing logistic support to the Polar Bears of Manitoba program. ElderhostelElderhostel is the world's largest educational and travel organization for adults 55 and over. The CNSC hosts several Elderhostel programs focusing on such topics as birding, beluga whales, polar bears, and northern lights.

Hudson Bay ProjectOne of the longest-term research studies in the Canadian north, the goal of the Hudson Bay Project is to better understand the interactions of herbivores such as lesser snow geese with the plants and animals that share the coastal arctic tundra of the Hudson and James Bay coast. Integrated Design Inc. (IDI) specializes in delivering practical, cost-effective, high-performance, sustainable buildings that have been optimized to provide ‘best value’ for building owners. IDI is based out of Saskatoon, with offices in Regina and Winnipeg.
